Pfizer asked the FDA on Wednesday to authorize three doses of their COVID-19 vaccine for children between the ages of six months and five years old.

The company originally studied a two-dose vaccine series, similar to what adults and older children receive, but paused their request for authorization in February while they studied the effectiveness of three doses, Fox News reports

Children younger than five receive a 3 microgram dose, which is 1/10 of the 30 microgram dose given to adults.
