The U.S. economy added 235,000 jobs in August, the Labor Department reported Friday, a number far below expectations.
As reported by Just the News, economists predicted roughly 720,000 more jobs, less than the 943,000 added in July.
The stunted number reflects the economy’s steady recovery from the pandemic and the recent slower pace as a result of the emergence of the Delta variant.
Additionally, the unemployment rate was 5.2 percent last month, down from 5.4 percent in July.
