House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is facing a slew of backlash for an insensitive and spine-chilling comment toward the deceased George Floyd.
Immediately following Derek Chauvin’s triple-conviction, Pelosi gazed up at the sky and uttered a harrowing statement: “Thank you, George Floyd, for sacrificing your life for justice.”
“For being there to call out to your mom,” Pelosi continued. “How heartbreaking was that? [To] call out for your mom, ‘I can’t breathe.’”
“But because of you and because of thousands, millions of people around the world who came out for justice, your name will always be synonymous with justice,” she added.
The democrat later attempted to rectify her statement on Twitter.
“George Floyd should be alive today. His family’s calls for justice for his murder were heard around the world. He did not die in vain,” she wrote. “We must make sure other families don’t suffer the same racism, violence and pain, and we must enact the George Floyd #JusticeInPolicing Act.”
But, to no surprise, many were still outraged by her comment.
She even infuriated those on team-left, who point to the fact that she’s been in office for three decades but made no improvements to the system.
