Republican advocacy group Crossroads GPS is running an exceptionally powerful television ad in Michigan, called “Basketball.”  To discuss it any further is to ruin its impact, so take a look:

Despite the politely optimistic tone of the conclusion, a glance at the PDF of their plan strongly suggests the folks at Crossroads GPS are very well aware that Barack Obama will never, ever support it.

The Detroit Free-Press reports that “Basketball” is part of a $10 million national campaign.  It will include other battleground states, such as Colorado, Iowa, Florida, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, but the initial focus on Michigan is interesting.  It’s Mitt Romney’s original home state, but it hasn’t supported a Republican presidential candidate since 1988.  If Michigan really does become a “swing state,” this could be quite a historic election.
