For many years the anniversary of the attacks of 9/11 were observed solemnly by remembering the victims of the worst terror attack in our nation's history, along with paying homage to the first responders. Well, those days are over. First responders aren't even invited to participate in ceremonies this coming September 11 and instead it appears as if the primary focus of 9/11 will be paying tribute to Barack Obama while downplaying the terrorism threat facing us.

In what can only be seen as an astonishingly short-sighted and self-centered set of "guidelines" issued by the White House,  officials are being instructed to focus on government service while at the same time making sure to note that it's just not Americans who suffer from Islamic terrorism. And while they're at it, make sure to focus on Barack Obama, who apparently was the hero of 9/11.

The White House in recent days has quietly disseminated two sets of documents. One is framed for overseas allies and their citizens and was sent to American embassies and consulates around the globe. The other includes themes for Americans here and underscores the importance of national service and what the government has done to prevent another major attack in the United States. That single-page document was issued to all federal agencies, officials said.

You might justifiably ask what national service has to do with anything. When people were preparing to leap 100 floors to their deaths that morning do you suppose anyone gave a moment to pause and and think "Gee, I hope my death is remembered with someone volunteering for Organizing for America"?

But let's get back to what this is all about: Obama.

After weeks of internal debate, White House officials adopted the communications documents to shape public events and official statements, and they sought to strike a delicate balance between messages designed for these two very important but very different audiences on a day when the world’s attention will be focused on President Obama, his leadership team and his nation.

Weeks of internal debate? Huh? It appears these folks have spent more time figuring out how to prop up Obama than Obama and his people have spent on their long-awaited so-called jobs plan. But what's particularly galling is the part where they note the world’s attention will be focused on President Obama, his leadership team and his nation.

Really? The world is going to be focusing on Obama, his leadership and his nation? Uh, not to be picky here, but isn't this our nation? And do these arrogant elitists really believe people around the world are tuning in on 9/11 to focus on Obama?

The hubris is just way over the top here. Did George W. Bush ever issue guidelines instructing anyone to focus on him, his leadership and his nation? Heck no. In fact a good portion of the left blamed Bush for 9/11 and still promote crackpot conspiracy theories to this day.

Yet now we're supposed to pause next Sunday and focus on Obama and his leadership.

Sickening.

Copies of the internal documents were provided to The New York Times by officials in several agencies involved in planning the anniversary commemorations. “The important theme is to show the world how much we realize that 9/11 — the attacks themselves and violent extremism writ large — is not ‘just about us,’ ” said one official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to describe internal White House planning.

It's not just about us, they say.

Indeed, it's just about Obama, his leadership and his nation.
