Republican Senators are "fully expected . . . to make an issue of this in the second round of questions this afternoon," a Senate source tells HUMAN EVENTS, referring to Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan's reported involvement in drafting a 1996 document on partial-birth abortion.

Four Democratic senators asked all the questions in Wednesday morning's Judiciary Committee hearing, which another Capitol Hill source explained was simply a consequence of the "lopsided"  majority on the committee, which has 12 Democrats and seven Republicans.

The first round of questioning ended about 11 a.m. ET, and Senate Republicans appeared "very interested" in the questions raised by Shannen Coffin's report at National Review, the first source said.

None of the Democrats touched on the issues raised by Kagan's evident role in drafting the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists' influential position paper on partial-birth abortion, which has been called "a gigantic scientific deception."
