President-elect Barack Obama offered the job of White House chief-of-staff to Rep. Rahm Emanuel of Illinois, according to ABC News.
Emanuel was a senior White House advisor in the Clinton Administration from 1993 to 1998. He has been in the House since 2002, representing the 5th Congressional District in Chicago’s Northside.
Known for playing hardball politics, Emanuel headed the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and was a key architect in the Democrat’s pick-up of 30 seats during the 2006 House elections.
