Where do we sign up for a government job?

A recent report by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis says that in 2004 the average federal worker earned about $100,00 in wages and benefits.

That’s compared to only $52,000 for the average private-sector worker.

Not bad work if you can get it, and a lot do. There’re about 1.9 million civilian federal workers.

More importantly, the Bureau reports that federal compensation is growing about 50 percent faster than the private sector. That means private sector workers keep digging deeper in our pockets to pay higher government salaries.

That trend cannot continue. The government has always been inefficient; we don’t want it inefficient and overpaid.
