Cornyn’s Immigration Amendment Beats Hillary’s

Sen. Clinton’s amendment to the Senate immigration bill to require the federal government to give more money to the states to provide financial assistance to health and education services related to immigration failed 43-52.

 

Instead, the Senate supported an amendment  64-32 from Sen. John Cornyn to use a surcharge from illegal immigrants applying for legal status to fund state and local educational and healthcare services related to immigration.
