More than 500 respondents to a HUMAN EVENTS survey about President Bush’s immigration speech gave him a failing grade. Seventy percent of those who participated in the survey said Bush’s speech was a “flop.”

A mere 11% said Bush did a “great” job on Monday night. The remainder of respondents offered another view of the speech. Responses ranged from“infuriating” and “terrible” to “insulting” and “treasonous.”

The results of the HUMAN EVENTS poll differ greatly from a CNN/Opinion Research poll trumpeted by the White House today that gave Bush high marks. According to that poll, 79% had a positive reaction to the speech.

Another poll by Zogby International found that 47% said they liked the speech, while 47% said they were disappointed.
