Republicans for Hillary, Part II

In other GOP-turncoat news, the Financial Times says that Rupert Murdoch (Founder of FOX, owner of New York Post, etc) "has agreed to host a political fundraiser for her re-election campaign" in July.

In retrospect, it's no wonder that Sen. Clinton showed up at Fox News Sunday’s 10th anniversary party last week. According to insiders, this is not so much Murdoch getting lovey-dovey with the woman who labeled his network as part of the infamous "vast, right-wing conspiracy," but merely him wanting to protect his financial interests: "Murdoch will be for the Republicans but he is also smart enough to know that the Republicans might not win. At some level, whether nationally or in New York, Hillary is the future and what savvy businessman would not want to put a line of interest in someone who will be the future?"

Another source said that the two "have a respectful and cordial relationship. He has respect for the work she has done on behalf of New York. I wouldn't say it was illustrative of a close ongoing relationship. It is not like they are dining out together."

During the 2000 campaign, Murdoch had given Rudy Giuliani and Rick Lazio each $1,000, and he also gave the Clinton-era DNC tens of thousands of dollars in soft money contributions.
