Although he's usually calling conservatives in the Washington area asking for money, Mike Bober's ability to mesh his commitment to the conservative cause with good humor has made him a popular figure in political action committee circles and among journalists. For several years, Georgetown University graduate Bober was an executive of the Hammond and Associates fund-raising firm and arranged Washington schedules for visiting conservative Republican House candidates.

Last week, Bober announced he was leaving the firm to become executive director the House Conservatives Fund, the new political action committee for the House Republican Study Committee. The PAC's chairman is Florida Rep. Tom Feeney.

"So I won't be calling folks for money and appointments any more," Bober told me, "I'll be calling to find out where Tom and the House conservatives should send money."
