Special thanks to Lisa Hoffman at Scripps Howard News Service for mentioning HUMAN EVENTS columnist Mac Johnson’s idea of turning May 1 into Conservative Shopping Day.

You see, Mac thought that while all the illegal immigrants are in the streets protesting on May Day next week, it would be a good idea for conservatives to head to their local Wal-Mart and stock up on goods.

Here’s an excerpt from Lisa’s article:

Some leaders, such as Jaime Contreras, chairman of the Washington, D.C.-area's National Capital Immigration Coalition, said a boycott was an extreme measure that could produce a backlash and potentially result in the loss of jobs for those who participate.

Indeed, many anti-immigration Internet sites now carry calls for "gringo" Americans to spend even more money than usual on that day. "To the Wal-Mart, comrades," columnist Mac Johnson implored on the online Human Events weekly magazine site. (www.humanevents.com)

I don’t think Lisa was implying that HUMAN EVENTS is “anti-immigrant,” but for those of you who read it that way, I can assure you that we’re not. In fact, we’re very much in favor of legal immigration. It’s the lawbreakers we don’t support.
