This week, Rep. Jeff Flake's egregious earmark award goes to the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in the amount of $500,000 for the expansion of the Atlanta Symphony Center.

The Republican congressman from Arizona spotted the pork project tucked into the Transportation-Treasury-HUD appropriations bill for fiscal year 2006.

"Congress really hit a sour note with this pork project," he said.

The House passed the bill with a vote of 392-31 and the Senate sent it through without one vote of opposition. It was signed into law by President Bush on November 30, 2005.
