The Congressional Quarterly reported today that Sen. John Kerry (D.-Mass.) has not only announced his opposition to Judge Samuel Alito’s confirmation to the Supreme Court but has used that as a fundraising platform.
Instead of using his senatorial connections to spread the word of his decision, he utilized ties to his political action committee – sending out 3 million e-mails to supporters of his 2004 presidential campaign, according to CQ.
The release of Kerry’s statement couldn’t have been better timed. The Senator issued the letter to coincide with the anniversary of Roe v. Wade in his effort to raise funds from pro-choice supporters.
Of course, CQ reports, Kerry’s spokeswoman denied the connection.
