Quentin was attacked while attempting to protect the group amid confrontations with members from an “anti-fascist” group known as Jeune Garde.
According to the French outlet BFMTV, police said tensions began around 6:40 pm when opposing groups gathered. Roughly 50 people were involved in the altercation, and two individuals were injured, including Quentin, who suffered a severe head injury. Emergency services treated him at the scene before taking him to the hospital in critical condition. The outlet, citing a source, said he sustained a significant head hematoma. Prosecutors said that an investigation was immediately opened.
Organizers for Némésis confirmed that one of their female members was assaulted and that a young man “sustained a heavy blow to the head.”
At the hospital, Quentin was placed in an induced coma after suffering multiple brain lesions. He subsequently died from his injuries. Quentin's family said in a statement, translated from French: "Quentin reportedly received blows to the head even while lying motionless on the ground, the individuals who attacked him acting with an undeniable intent to kill, which will nevertheless need to be further investigated."

"Quentin's family stands by all the points made in their previous statement. They solemnly reiterate that the young man defended his convictions without violence, advocating peaceful activism, and that he had never been implicated in any wrongdoing in the past. Jordan Bardella, president of the National Rally, issued a statement on Friday expressing condolences to the victim’s family after the attack took place," the statement added.
“After a violent assault by members of the Jeune Garde, some of whom are reportedly close to the LFI MP Raphaël Arnault, a militant close to the Collectif Némésis is between life and death,” Bardella wrote. “The facts are of extreme gravity and call for the mobilization of the entire political class. The impunity of the far left must end: beyond exemplary punishment of the perpetrators, I want the dissolution of this small group to finally become effective.”
"It is time to become aware of the danger that the far left, its intolerance that seeks to eliminate any dissenting thought – including through intimidation and violence – represents for our institutions, for democracy, and for society,” he added.
