LIBBY EMMONS: UN walks back climate-pocalypse warnings but doomerist damage is already done

In 2019, Greta Thunberg took a trip to New York City. She set up downtown to give a big speech and tons of school children from middle schools, high schools, and even elementary schools (accompanied by parents) went to hear her speak about the dire warnings of climate apocalypse. She had quit school because the urgency of climate change was so bad. And the kids believed it; they were terrified, some went on a birth strike.

It wasn't just a decision made by parents as to whether or not their kids could go hear Thunberg speak, the New York City public school system shut down for the day so that kids could go protest. I took my son, mostly because I wanted to get some footage of kids being hysterically alarmist and since school was closed it's not like I could leave my elementary schooler home alone. His friend, whose mom had to work, tagged along too.

"New York public schools give permission for students to leave school to participate in the global climate strike on Sept. 20," Thunberg wrote on Twitter. "How will local governments and schools in the rest of the world respond? Time is running out..." Fears over the climate crisis have been treated as a religion where questioning climate change has been seen as blasphemous. How many people will really question their base beliefs in climate change?

At the protest, downtown at Foley Square, students yelled "We won't let our planet die, climate change is not a lie." Except, as it turns out, it was a lie, a great big fat lie. The UN just said so. They have backed away from the RCP 8.5, the model that showed all life would come to an end here on planet Earth.

This is the model that Thunberg was citing, that AOC cited when she said the world was going to end in 12 years, the model that has been used as a cudgel against farmers, against citizens, and used by politicians to make us feel shame about things like driving our cars, eating red meat, flying in planes, and all the rest of it.

None of these warnings stopped those globalists from doing anything, but the rest of us were supposed to be cowed into submission because the warnings were all so great.  Hollywood celebs jumped aboard with their moralizing and across the world nations succumbed to pressure to cut back on fossil fuels, to tackle carbon emissions, and to make policy based on this model—which turns out to have been "WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!" as President Trump so eloquently said on Truth Social. I could not have said it better myself.

"I feel like what we need now is a broad-based movement rooted from the awareness of everyone," a high school student named Gina told me at that 2019 march. "So I feel like movements like these could really raise awareness and bring the social cause to everyone’s knowledge. I feel like not a lot of people know about the issue and once the ideas get out we just need authoritative support and everything will be cool hopefully."

Others held up signs saying that they absolutely would not have children out of a fear of bringing new life into a dying world. Climate change "science" has been taught as flawless canon for years, but it's just not true. Those we encountered at that global climate strike and generations of kids were forever damaged by these lies.

The global elites, though the mouth of willing climate martyr Thunberg, told our kids their world was dying, told them to spend their lives on the mission of reversing climate change, kept telling them civilization was almost at the point of no return, told them not to have children.

In 2023, then-Vice President Kamala Harris said "You know, I've heard young leaders talk with me about a term they've coined, ‘climate anxiety,’ which is fear of the future and the unknown of whether it makes sense for you to even think about having children, whether it makes sense for you to think about aspiring to buy a home because what will this climate be?" She backed the idea that having children in a time of climate uncertainty was probably a bad thing.

Multiple studies over the years have shown that climate anxiety is a major stressor in the lives of young people across the western world. "The existential threat posed by climate change is deeply troubling to many young people," said a Harvard study in 2023. At the time, "60 percent described themselves as very worried about the climate and nearly half said the anxiety affects their daily functioning."

You have to go pretty hard to get a mammal to stop reproducing, and that's what this bogus climate alarmism did. These kids went on a birth strike because of climate change and now the UN said it was all made up and is never going to happen. The UN and their ilk presented this false religion, coerced millions to join it, then pulled the rug out after the damage to these kids lives was already done.

Our kids are in a doom spiral, spurred by many factors, but not least among them is the climate-pocalypse doomerism spread by alarmists who made their fortunes off terrorizing young people into hopelessness and despair. Thunberg famously spoke out at world leaders saying "How dare you?" And I say it now to those same leaders: "How dare you steal our children's future in service to your damned lies?"
