During one of his rare press conferences last year, President Joe Biden told reporters that he would do anything in his power to prevent Donald Trump from becoming president again.
Biden was asked about the G7 nations, and their potential reaction to Trump becoming president for a second term. After taking the White House, Biden and his administration repeatedly said that the "adults" were back in charge, and it was the potential overturning of those self-proclaimed adults that the reporter was getting at.
Trump "is about to launch another campaign," the reporter said, before asking how Biden would "reassure" the G7 that "the former President will not return or that his political movement, which is still very strong, will not —"
Biden laughed, "Oh yeah?"
"–will not once again take power in the United States?" The reporter continued.
"Well," Biden said, "we just have to demonstrate that he will not take power by — if we — if he does run. I’m making sure he, under legitimate efforts of our Constitution, does not become the next President again."
And this is exactly what Biden and his weaponized Department of Justice have set out to do. In Miami, the DOJ under AG Merrick Garland has charged Trump with 37 counts relating to the retention of classified documents. The documents were seized by the FBI from Trump's Mar-a-Lago home in August 2022.
Biden has been discovered to be in possession of more than 1,800 boxes of classified documents, spread across several locations, stemming from his time as vice president under Barack Obama. Vice presidents do not have the authority to declassify documents, though the president does.
Trump is being charged with "willful retention of national defense information," "withholding or concealing documents in a federal investigation," "false statements," and "conspiracy to obstruct justice." All of these charges, however, stem from the DOJ prosecuting Trump for having classified documents in the first place.
Biden has not been prosecuted or even chastised for having boxes upon boxes of classified documents, none of which he had the authority to take or possess. Instead, Trump and his 11 boxes are under the microscope, and Biden is the one doing the prosecuting under the Espionage Act. The DOJ doesn't even have to prove that Trump had the intent to disseminate the information.
And if this isn't enough to keep Trump from the presidency, Biden's DOJ is also planning to prosecute Trump for insurrection surrounding the Capitol riot of January 6. If Trump were convicted of something that even the January 6 committee couldn't prove after years of trying, Trump would not be able to serve, even should he win the election.
Meanwhile, evidence continues to emerge that it is likely that Biden took a $5 million bribe from Ukrainian energy company Burisma while serving as VP and affected US policy toward Ukraine as a result. Is he being charged? Do any Democrats have any concerns about this obvious breech of national security? No, they only have eyes for Trump.
In New York, DA Alvin Bragg, currently prosecuting Trump on an entirely different set of politically motivated charges, ran his campaign on a promise to arrest and prosecute Trump, and that's what he's doing. These charges are also absurd, 34 counts of falsification of business records. Hillary Clinton settled out of court for these same charges and paid a fine of $8,000.
Her crime resulted in the creation of the Steele Dossier, which were faked documents intended to frame Trump for having colluded with Russia to affect the 2016 election. It was used to impeach Trump, and it was lies. Trump allegedly paid off a porn star to cover up a dalliance.
Biden is making good on his promise to do everything he can to prevent Trump from winning, including engaging in willful election interference, and prosecuting Trump for crimes he himself has committed.
Biden has no interest in letting the American people decide who their leader should be, instead he is using lawfare against his leading contender to squash him and his supporters.
