LIBBY EMMONS: A leftist woman tried to run over an ICE agent in Minneapolis, and now everything is worse

A 37-year-old white woman was killed on Wednesday in an altercation with ICE in Minneapolis. She sat in her Honda Pilot, with Missouri plates, and blocked the road while her wife stood outside the car in the cold taking video of the whole thing on her cell phone. It was a staged protest against the enforcement of American immigration laws.

The narrative lines were drawn instantly. The Trump administration called the woman a domestic terrorist. The Democrats said the ICE agent who opened fire was a cold blooded killer. There was absolutely no sign of restraint on either side to wait for the facts to come in before rushing to judgement. For those anxious to use Good's death to uphold their political perspective, the facts were less essential than who got their account out first.

The woman in the car was told by agents to stop, but she would not. Instead, she put the car in reverse while an ICE agent had his hand on her door handle and another agent was in front of the car. Then she gunned it forward only for the agent in front of the vehicle to fire into the windshield as he tried to get out of the way.

Renee Nicole Good lost her life trying to run over an ICE agent. The car sped off and crashed into a row of parked cars, Good slumped over behind the wheel. Emergency services were called. Witnesses stood around. Good's 6-year-old son was orphaned, his father having passed in 2023. And it's a tragedy that didn't have to happen. Her wife was heard to say after the fact "I made her come down here, it’s my fault. They just shot my wife."

There was no reason that Good should be in the street blocking law enforcement, nor that she would not comply with law enforcement when they told her to get out of the car. But she was an activist, spending her day protesting ICE agents, and her goal was to block their efforts to apprehend illegal immigrant criminals.

Minneapolis is a sanctuary city where ordinances prevent local police from turning over illegal immigrant criminals to ICE for enforcement. To do their job and apprehend criminals, ICE has to go out into the community to track these people down—and anyone else they may find who is in the country illegally will be apprehended too. Sanctuary city policies create more volatile conditions and make the law-abiding illegal immigrant community more vulnerable to arrest because it puts them directly in harm's way.

Minneapolis city officials said that Good was blocking traffic intentionally, that her goal was to prevent ICE agents from doing their job. Witnesses said the same thing.

Governor Tim Walz went in front of the cameras and told Minnesotans that protesting was their "patriotic duty," and he said to do so peacefully. He practically begged them not to George Floyd Renee Nicole Good and burn down the city. As he said that the incident should not be politicized, he politicized it.

"This is about public safety and it's about normalcy... If you're in Portland, or you're in LA, or you're in Chicago or wherever they're coming next, stand with us against this." He mobilized the National Guard. He said the Trump administration's view on the shooting was "propaganda."

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey told the feds to "get the f*ck out" of Minneapolis. He said the agent did not act in self-defense, despite the investigation only being an hour old at the time of his remarks.

Ilhan Omar said it was a "lie" that Good tried to "run the officer over." AOC said it was murder. Rashida Tlaib, Sara Jacobs, and others all called for the arrest of the ICE agent who fired his weapon so they could give him the Derek Chauvin treatment.

The more America looks at what's going on in the North Star State, from Somali fraud to illegal immigrant drivers licenses, the more rotten it looks. Under the guise of compassion, this state has wasted lives and funds, they have allowed mayhem on the streets to the point where feds had to go in to deal with it.

There will be riots, despite Walz's talking points. The protests have already begun in New York, Seattle, Portland (of course), and Minneapolis. More will come out about Good, her intentions, her background and the narrative will be bent one way by the left and another way by the right. But the video evidence is clear:

Good attempted to ram her car into a federal agent, and that agent reacted by discharging his weapon. Now her life is over and his life will be ruined, all because Minneapolis and Minnesota decided they were just too “compassionate” to follow the law.
