Biden's $230 million Gaza pier boondoggle to be permanently removed as early as next week

The pier built off the coast of Gaza by the US military under the direction of President Joe Biden to bring in humanitarian aid will be permanently dismantled.

On Tuesday, Pentagon press secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder said at a press briefing that the pier, after being removed again because of rough seas, could be reinstalled on Wednesday and used for several days to clear aid that has piled up in Cyprus and on the floating dock to get the aid to the beach in Gaza before being permanently removed.

Biden’s $230 million boondoggle, known as Joint Logistics Over the Shore (JLOTS), has been plagued with problems since it was announced. The pier repeatedly broke its anchors and washed up onshore and was even attacked by Palestinian terrorists. The convoys bringing the aid from the pier were suspended due to the terrorist attacks. One US soldier was critically injured while constructing the pier.

Additionally, the majority of the 19.4 million pounds of food that came through the pier ended up in the hands of Hamas terrorists.

The problems left the pier operational for only 23 of the 53 days since it was originally anchored on May 17, according to ABCNews.

Biden announced the project, which utilized approximately 1,000 US soldiers and sailors, during his State Of The Union address in an attempt to quiet the far-left flank of his party, which opposes Israel’s war against Palestinian terrorists following the brutal attacks on Oct. 7.

The Pentagon and USAID inspectors general have launched reviews of the failed project, as Republican lawmakers have called the pier a “waste of taxpayer dollars” that “defies all logic.”
