In a post to Truth Social on Sunday, the president published an AI video of what is apparently Kharg Island getting blown up, and said in the caption, "Kharg Island being blown to smithereens!!! President DJT."
In another post on Monday, the president said that they are a "failed nation" with sky-high inflation, no navy and no air force. "The only thing they have is FAKE NEWS from the USA, a willingness to kill their protesters (now over 100,000 people dead. They must be tried for war crimes against humanity!), and a good line of 'BULLSH*T,'" Trump added.

Oil prices in the markets increased on Monday by around 3 percent in reaction to the strikes, which are the first known American strikes in the country since late July.
Larak Island has become a key military point for Tehran that has been used in the conflict, according to CNBC. “Earlier today U.S. forces struck two Iranian launchers on Larak Island. Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces were observed preparing to launch rockets with sea mines into the Strait of Hormuz,” a US CENTCOM spokesman said in a statement about the strikes on the island.
“Last week, CENTCOM completed clearing sea mines from the strait’s international shipping routes. U.S. forces are monitoring the area closely and remain prepared to protect the free flow of commerce through this essential waterway," the statement added.
The conflict between the US and Iran, which has gone on for six months, has disrupted maritime operations in the Strait of Hormuz, driving up oil prices.
