Trump said on Truth Social, "Massive numbers of completely empty oil tankers, some of the largest anywhere in the World, are heading, right now, to the United States to load up with the best and 'sweetest' oil (and gas!) anywhere in the World. We have more oil than the next two largest oil economies combined - and higher quality. We are waiting for you. Quick turnaround!"

The post from Trump comes as the Iranian and US delegations were meeting with Pakistani mediators in Islamabad. Vice President JD Vance is among those in the delegation in the negotiations. The talks take place just days after Trump announced a two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran. Terms included that the US would stop striking Iran and the Iranians would open up the Strait of Hormuz, a key waterway for international shipping routes.
Iran has also been charging tolls for tankers since the ceasefire and has restricted the flow of shipping through the strait. Around 20 percent of the world's oil supply usually goes through the waterway.
According to The Hill, the tolls typically cost around $1 per barrel to go through the waterway. However, Trump has said that the US is "starting the process of clearing out the Strait of Hormuz as a favor to Countries all over the World." He then named "China, Japan, South Korea, France, Germany" as countries benefiting from the actions of the US.
Trump then added, "Incredibly, they don’t have the Courage or Will to do this work themselves. Very interestingly, however, empty Oil carrying ships from many Nations are all heading to the United States of America to LOAD UP with Oil."
