ROD THOMSON: The death of multiculturalism will save America

Finally, the multiculturalism cult is dying as the predictably wretched results are becoming painfully clear beyond what the leftist media could hope to hide.

Multiculturalism was the forerunning foundation on which was built the cult of diversity, mass migration, DEI, and the rest of the horrors inflicted on decent Americans for 30 years.

This ivory tower scheme posited, against all reason, a new leftist utopianism that all cultures are equal and wonderful, and that America should not be the melting pot blending new immigrants all into a singular Americanism. Instead, they preached, America should be a stew of different vegetables, meats, broths, and spices from the world's cultures. These things remain distinct and different in culture and values, just within the same geographic boundary.

Out of this rose the insipidly stupid phrase still repeated by the regurgitative lunkheads today that "diversity is our strength." This was never true and never could be, as it violates everything we know about human nature.

Finally, the multiculturalism cult is dying as the predictably wretched results are becoming painfully clear beyond what the leftist media could hope to hide. As the cult leaders get more unhinged, the country is finally seeing it.

The most recent and high-profile examples reveal that the stew is poisonous.

In the past few months, we've seen increasingly deadly violence by Muslim immigrants against Jewish students on college campuses, the slaughter of Jewish students in the West, such as those at a Hanukkah celebration in Australia, and the cancellation of famous, traditional Christmas and New Year's celebrations in Germany, France, and other European nations. All of it was because of the elitist embrace of multiculturalism and mass migration without assimilation.

Meanwhile, if you condemn the Islamic attacks in Europe, just posting obvious truths, you end up in jail — but not if you condemn violence by non-Muslims because the cult is real.

The billions of dollars in fraud scammed by newly arrived Somali immigrants in Minnesota, literally taking food from hungry children — because theft is an acceptable part of Somali culture — continues to metastasize into new areas. It is defended by a priest of multiculturalism, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, who says he wants to import more Somalis and give them benefits because the cult is real. Immigrant Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib are among the high priestesses.

The immigrant violence that has lived on U.S. college campuses for a long time has spread like poison does. The Washington, D.C., ambush of two National Guard members by an Afghan national who came during the dark days of the Biden administration left one dead and the other in critical condition. The Brown University shooter was a Portuguese national. The list is long.

But like all cults, multiculturalism is built on a foundation of lies, whereby diversity worship leads to mass, unassimilated migration that imports Third World cultures, antithetical to America. Stephen Miller, White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Homeland Security Advisor, tells the truth bluntly, and it is resonating more and more.

He posted on X: "This is the great lie of mass migration. You are not just importing individuals. You are importing societies. No magic transformation occurs when failed states cross borders. At scale, migrants and their descendants recreate the conditions, and terrors, of their broken homelands."

Mass immigration creates ethnic, cultural enclaves of Third World cultures with no affinity for America or American ideals. See Minneapolis and Dearborn, among other examples.

Christopher Rufo explains this problem so clearly by comparing the Somalis in Minnesota and the Norwegians who settled there:

"The national culture of Somalia is different from the national culture of Norway. Somalis and Norwegians therefore, tend to think differently, behave differently, and organize themselves differently, which leads to different group outcomes. Norwegians in Minnesota behave similarly to Norwegians in Norway; Somalis in Minnesota behave similarly to Somalis in Somalia…fraud networks aren't so surprising; they reflect the extension of Somali institutional norms."

Of course, every common-sense observer from Miller to Rufo is immediately castigated as a racist, bigoted white supremacist Nazi. But here's the change: they can now say all the truths. In fact, more and more people are willing to speak the truth because not only is it obvious, but the ignorant epithets have been so grossly overused that they have lost their meaning.

Although Americans, being decent folk, wince at the optics of arresting illegals, which the multiculturalism cult's comms arm in the legacy media exaggerate with delight, they are still in support of President Trump's actions.

A Harvard/Harris poll taken in October found that 56 percent of registered voters support deporting all illegal aliens, while an overwhelming 78 percent support deporting all criminal illegal aliens. And a New York Times/Siena September poll found that 54 percent of registered voters support "deporting immigrants living in the United States illegally."

In November, U.S. Rep. Chip Roy introduced the Pausing All Admissions Until Security Ensured (PAUSE) Act, nine days after Human Events published a column calling for a long immigration pause, similar to the one the U.S. successfully implemented in the 20th century. The bill calls for freezing all immigration to the U.S., except for temporary tourist visas, until certain conditions are met.

Americans realize there has been an economic and criminal price to pay for mass immigration. But they are also realizing that probably the highest price is that of cultural suicide. If America is a location between two oceans and two countries, and not a distinct culture of its own, then it is not America. It is a location, and the American Dream eventually becomes a violent, dystopian clash of Third World cultures.

For the first time, it's feeling like that is no longer an inevitability.
