The label "narcissist" is overused and watered down these days, which makes it challenging to recognize what real, abusive narcissistic behavior looks like. However, as a licensed therapist, I realize the Democrats' current reaction to what Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has revealed about the Russia collusion story is a good example of classic narcissistic abusive behavior.
Democrats lied, got caught in the lie, then continued to frame the Republicans as bad guys for exposing their lies. This is what abusers do. Yet, Democrats position themselves as the compassionate, good guys. They often describe themselves as "the adults in the room," while Trump is labeled a fascist and dictator countless times by his opponents. On June 14, 2025, Democrat voters even held a nationwide "No Kings" rally to protest Trump as president, yet the leaders they support are the ones acting like kings. Democrats have been caught abusing their power to take out their political opponent. This is treason on a scale Americans have never seen before.
In 2017, the Democrats used the fabricated Steele dossier to attack Donald Trump's presidency and put him through impeachment. Tulsi Gabbard has uncovered and released documentation that shows that the Obama intelligence team had no evidence of collusion between Donald Trump and Moscow. Still, Obama ordered it to be published anyway. This wasn't just political fanfare; these blatant lies led to two impeachments during Trump's first presidency. The media repeated the Russian collusion hoax for so long that a large percentage of Americans believed it was true—and still do. According to a 2017 PBS article, "Four in 10 Americans think the president has done something illegal when it comes to Russia, while an additional 3 in 10 say he's at least done something unethical."
Despite what the media said for years, Gabbard posted on X: "TRUTH: President Obama, former Director of the CIA John Brennan, and others fabricated the Russia Hoax, suppressed intelligence showing Putin was preparing for a Clinton victory, manufactured findings from shoddy sources, disobeyed IC standards, and knowingly lied to the American people."
She shared in a press release on July 23, "The house intelligence committee oversight report that we released today reveals that 'Unlike routine and intelligence community analysis, the intelligence community assessment was a high profile product ordered by the president, President Obama'. It directed senior intelligence community agency heads and created an intelligence community assessment limited to just five analysts using one principled drafter. This is not something that occurs in the normal path of producing an intelligence community assessment that reflects the views across the intelligence community."
Now that evidence of their fraud is out, the Democrats are once again attacking Trump for setting the record straight. They are denying objective evidence, labeling it "nonsense and misinformation." Obama's spokesperson posted, "These bizarre allegations are ridiculous and a weak attempt at distraction." But how ridiculous are these allegations when the evidence is right there for us all to see? It seems that it is Obama who is looking for a distraction from his corrupt behavior. This is yet another round of gaslighting by the Democrats.
Anyone who has been in a relationship with a lying, cheating partner who deflects their bad behavior may recognize this pattern quite easily. Narcissists need to be held accountable and not be permitted to hide behind their lies. They need strong people to stand up to them and not cower to their manipulative ways. Tulsi Gabbard is unafraid to stand up to the tyranny that has been hiding under the guise of compassion and democracy. She announced on Wednesday, July 23, that former President Obama has been referred for investigation to the Department of Justice.
The reason Trump won the election in 2024 is that more Americans could see through the lies Democrats have been repeating. Trump voters are tired of being lied to by their government and seek justice. Democrats have repeated the phrase "No one is above the law" over and over again. As the truth is now revealed about the Russia collusion hoax, let's see if they were right.
