A deadly stabbing early Monday morning in the Dutch town of Hoofddorp has left two people dead and two police officers injured, including one in critical condition, reports the Daily Mail. Authorities have not yet disclosed the motive or confirmed if any arrests have been made.

Emergency crews responded shortly after 6 am local time to reports of multiple stabbings at Fanny Blankers-Koenlaan, a residential care facility for people with mild or moderate intellectual disabilities. The area, located in Haarlemmermeer, northern Holland, was quickly sealed off by law enforcement.

“There are multiple victims, including a colleague. Multiple ambulances and the MMT are on site,” said Politie Eenheid Noord-Holland.

One of the injured officers was transported to a hospital. Local reports describe one police vehicle at the scene as "smeared with blood."

A helicopter, at least six ambulances, and two trauma teams were also dispatched.

The exact circumstances that led to the attack are still unclear, with police having not released the identities of the victims or the type of injuries sustained. A police unit was set up around the facility, and video from the scene showed ambulances and officers standing by a stretcher in the street.

This morning’s incident comes just months after another brutal stabbing spree occurred in Amsterdam in March, where five people were wounded near Dam Square. Victims in that case included two Americans, a Polish man, a Belgian woman, and a Dutch woman, ranging in age from 19 to 73.

At the time, Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsema said, “Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and loved ones.” Authorities in that case were still working to determine the motive and whether the victims were chosen at random.

In the Hoofddorp case, police are expected to provide further updates as the investigation continues.
