At Thursday’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), a panel titled Canceling Satan highlighted concerns over what speakers described as pervasive spiritual and cultural threats in modern society. The event was hosted by CPAC board member Veronica Birkenstock, who made the discussion around Satan’s influence and how to handle it.
“Obviously, Satan has invaded every part of our lives and he's done that from day one,” Birkenstock said. “Just about every area of our lives, our families, our finances, especially our children and our schools, there is, Satan is prevalent.
"And the key is obviously being able to discern that and being able to tell the difference between truth, real truth, God's truth, and then being able to ward away the evil. We have an excellent panel here today who are gonna share some of their viewpoints and how they discern.”
Jack Posobiec addressed a recent case in Spain, describing what he called a “government-backed suicide” involving 25-year-old Noelia Ramos. “It was a government murder that took her life,” Posobiec said. He recounted that Ramos, hospitalized for depression, was raped while in state care and later became paraplegic after a suicide attempt. “Instead of helping her out of this terrible pit of despair through healing, they said that we want to offer you government-backed suicide. Her family fought it. Her mother said to turn it off, said to stop it.
"They said no. You know why they said no? Because her organs had already been promised to another patient. They took her organs even before she was dead, even while she was still alive. Her father tried to file a lawsuit with the government, and they still said no. I’m very sorry to say that that was carried out earlier today.” Posobiec called the act “atrocious,” “unhuman, and "satanic,” adding, “when you do not embrace a culture of life, then by default, you become a culture of death.”
Birkenstock added, “Satan enters at every opportunity.”
Pastor Mark Burns also spoke on confronting cultural and spiritual challenges in America. “Number one, it is time for the church to stop bowing down to culture and start bowing down to Christ,” Burns said. “The problem in America is that we have too many weak preachers of the gospel of Jesus Christ that won't open up their mouths and start speaking the truth and truth to power. We have to disciple America. There's a reason why Donald Trump is rededicating America back to the living God coming up soon because this nation was founded on Christian principles. It was founded with the ideal that Jesus is Lord of America. Do you believe that? Say yes to that. Yes.”
Burns warned of societal moral decline: “The only way we can defeat Satan is with the power and the love of Jesus Christ. We fight not against flesh and blood, but against every principality, wickedness of high places. Our enemy is not Joe Biden, it's Satan from the gates of hell. That is why we have a nation that is allowing children to change their sex. That's why we have a nation that makes it easy to kill babies. And until we stop bowing down to culture, until America turns back to Jesus, until America remember why we became the nation that we are, it is because we decided with our founders that we, the United States of America, we pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
When asked about his own efforts, Posobiec said his podcast reaches millions daily and emphasized a multi-pronged approach to confronting cultural and spiritual challenges. “When the communists began their counter-revolution in this country, what was the very first thing they did? The very first thing they did was they drove God from the public square.
"And we are coming up now on Holy Week. Palm Sunday is this Sunday. Holy Week follows. If you go back to the 1950s in New York City, what would you see on Good Friday across the New York City skyline? You would see the three crosses of Calvary across the New York City skyline. And what do we see when we look across the New York City skyline right now? The Empire State Building on Transgender Awareness Day will have the colors of the trans flag up on top.
"They removed our God, and they replaced him with theirs.
"And that's what they've done to our country. It's not just about getting all of this out of the schools. It's not enough to get all of this out of the public square. No, it is not enough simply to remove this. We must restore God to the public square. We must restore the Bible.
"We must restore the 10 Commandments. And we must restore the public proclamation that Christ is King. Yes.”
