2025 was one of the most impactful, influential, and teachable years in recent memory. Our nation witnessed countless triumphs, tragedies, and trophies over the past twelve months, and we need to gain perspective on how 2026 can be an even bigger year for the mission of making America great again. President Trump and American conservatives across the United States are fighting for nothing less than the survival of western civilization and we have to act like it.
The evidence is all around us: to start the year, President Trump was inaugurated to a non-consecutive second term on January 20th, 2025 in a nation where the two political sides have taken up trench warfare and the middle has basically fallen away. After a tumultuous four years between the dismal Democratic presidency of Joe Biden and Trump's second term, we witnessed some of the most significant abuses of lawfare and power in our nation's history. Not to mention the leftist attempt to rewrite both history and reality.
Our President was shot, indicted, and his family was targeted by his political adversaries in ways we had never witnessed prior. America witnessed President Trump overcome all that and take back the White House to deliver on some of the biggest campaign promises he had made while on the campaign trail. Mass deportations of illegal immigrant criminals, tightening the border to the point of near 100% restriction on migration to the US, lowering gas prices, resetting trade deals through tariffs, and making peace deals to bring our troops and interests back home, show that President Trump has had one of the most successful first years of a presidential term in the country's history—and we’re only a year in.
2025 was also the year the conservative movement stood still, as our colleague, inspiration, friend, and face of the conservative movement, Charlie Kirk was assassinated in cold blood on September 10th. The alleged killer, a crazed, furry, progressive gunman named Tyler Robinson, sits in jail awaiting a trial that will drag on for months. It appears that he was radicalized by the same leftist, reality-altering propaganda that defined Biden’s presidency and exemplifies the divide on the American political landscape. Charlie’s killing came just as the Republican Party felt connected, united, and more faithful than it had been over the last few decades. The great conservative unifier, family man, and the most outstanding modern youth advocate for the Christian faith was taken from this world and left a fracturing in his wake.
Charlie was a beacon of light who became a Christian martyr. He was a man who motivated so many young conservatives, including the very ones who write for Human Events, to be unabashedly America First and openly conservative Christians who wanted to save our country from the Godless left. And it is Godless—it is a death cult obsessed with abortion, destroying borders, euthanasia, child sex changes, and it tries to use our own Christian values to shame us into betraying those values.
The year 2025 has shown us the highs and lows of conservative advocacy in politics. We have helped our President get elected, changed the culture, and witnessed victories unlike those the GOP has ever seen. However, at the same time, we have watched it divide because our unifier was assassinated, and many are unsure of how to recover. Now, it is up to us to carry on Charlie's torch, help President Trump and the MAGA movement, and stand for all the virtuous positions that the America First movement is supposed to embody.
If we want to win in 2026, we must set aside our petty differences, squash our squabbles, and do our very best to complete the mission that was not only Charlie’s, but was our own. And we must win. If the midterms are lost in 2026 to Democrats who are able to unify around hating everything we stand for, President Trump’s plans for the next three years will be scuttled, conservatism will be back to standing on the back foot in defense, not offense, and we’ll lose our nation and our civilization. Take heed, unify despite the petty squabbles, and save America.
