"I'm not usually the guy to sit there and be like the old 90s church moms and say, ‘We need censorship,'" Posobiec told Terry Shilling before expounding on the idea. His recent concern comes from a show featuring what is essentially child rape in an episode of Stranger Things.
He and Shilling discussed how best to make sure that parents are aware of the LGBTQ themes in media content for children. Shilling said that "Congress should start to get involved. And what you'll see happen is Netflix does not want to be regulated by laws from Congress, and they will start to actually be good players.
"Right now, Netflix is taking advantage of the Libertarians in Congress, both in the Democratic and the Republican Party, and then also the sexual left in the Democratic Party that wants to push the stuff on kids. So, if Congress got serious, and you had legislation, President Trump started threatening to take legal action against Netflix for pushing these obviously obscene things — And look what you have described in the Netflix opening episode for season five is absolutely qualifies as obscenity, right?
"This is disgusting. It would be offensive to my grandmother, to my mother, to my sisters. It's absolutely terrible. But I think once government starts really bringing action and taking it seriously, then you'll start to see Netflix possibly clean things up, but if they don't, then you follow through the legislation, right?"
"And one of the things that they could throw in there, by the way," Posobiec said, "perhaps is remember, we used to have those warnings for racism and warnings for those outmoded beliefs in 'Gone with the Wind'? Why not demand, in certain states, we could even potentially have back legislation for this. 'Hey, there's LGBT themes in this children's show.' And I would put that on Netflix. I would put that on every single network that is calling for it."
