The case stems from an incident on June 3 at the Hotel Martinique, where a Swedish man told police the woman touched his genitals without consent inside a Turkish steam bath. He was 18 at the time of the alleged assault. She had been detained overnight following the complaint but was later released on bail while the investigation continued, reports the Daily Mail.
Prosecutors have now filed a formal indictment outlining their version of events. They allege the woman approached the tourist after the pair had shared a sauna and used the pool area. According to the three-page document, she sat beside him inside the steam room and, “with a lustful spirit, taking advantage of the fact that no one else was there and against his will, put her hands on his genitals and fondled them until he said: ‘No, no, no’ and left.”
Along with the 18-month sentence, prosecutors are asking the court to prohibit her from working with minors for an additional two years, impose court costs, and order her to pay the complainant £440 in compensation.
Court officials said two police officers who responded to the call will testify at trial, alongside both parties involved. A pre-trial session remains possible if lawyers seek a plea agreement, though it is unclear if that option will be pursued.
The initial police report states the Swedish tourist alerted hotel staff immediately after leaving the steam bath. Officers were called to the property and found the man visibly distressed. “The alleged sexual aggressor, aged 37… was accused of touching the victim’s private parts without consent,” a Civil Guard spokesman said at the time.
According to sources familiar with the investigation, the woman had first denied the allegation when questioned by police but later admitted in court that she touched the tourist, claiming she believed he had shown interest after small talk. That account does not appear in the prosecution’s indictment.
Her lawyer, Palma-based attorney Joan Arbos, previously said he intended to argue the case should be dismissed, though he has not commented on the latest developments. A trial date has not yet been scheduled
