The crowd called for the lawmaker's resignation, suggesting that she is a traitor to Muslims.
Video captured by senior editor of Post Millennial Andy Ngo shows the group gathering in force outside the Labour Party office with picket signs and Palestinian flags. They repeatedly chanted the lawmaker's name and the phrase, "Shame on you!" with angry fists in the air.
"Rushanara out! Rushanara out!" the crowd chanted repeatedly.
One sign displayed by a protester implied that Rushanara's decision to vote against a ceasefire was due to white oppression. The sign reads: "Free Rushanara from the shackles of white men."
The UK Labour Party office is located in the Tower Hamlets borough in London, which consists of a Muslim-majority population. Labour MP Rushanara Ali represents Bethnal Green and Bow in parliament.
The borough's local Muslim mayor, Lutfur Rahman, was found guilty of election fraud in 2015 and was removed from office, according to BBC. Despite the conviction, Rahman was reelected as Mayor of Town Hamlets in 2022.
The motion to vote for a ceasefire occurred on Wednesday in the House of Commons and was introduced by the social-democratic Scottish Nationalist Party (SNP). Rushanara Ali, who serves as the Shadow Minister for Investment and Small Businesses, voted against the ceasefire motion. She said that she supports a ceasefire in Gaza but cannot support the motion as it "would not" lead to one, according to Express UK.
MP Ali issued a statement on X, formerly known as Twitter, and said: "I have never considered my role on the Labour front bench to be above my commitment to my constituents and my principles — and that is why I refused to join the Shadow Government many times."
"If my resignation meant the needle would move in the slightest over forcing a ceasefire, my letter would have been written and deposited already," she continued. "The reality is that this motion does not secure a ceasefire and would not lead towards one."
