Human Events Daily host Jack Posobiec criticized mainstream media reporting for downplaying the political views of Tyler Robinson, the man accused of killing Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.
Posobiec reacted to a Washington Post article released on Wednesday that detailed Robinson’s behavior and comments leading up to the killing. According to the report, Robinson had joked with people around him about right-wing politicians, with one person recalling him saying things like, “That guy’s gonna catch a bullet one day.”
However, Posobiec highlighted how the Washington Post buried these details deep in the article, noting that the report begins with Robinson playing the New York Times puzzle game Wordle on September 10, the day of the killing, and bragging about solving it to his friends. Only later does the article address Robinson’s anti–right-wing rhetoric.
The report mentioned that the Trump administration claimed Robinson was radicalized by left-wing extremists, and prosecutors alleged Kirk was targeted for his political expression. The Washington Post noted that no publicly known statement from Robinson confirmed these motives. However, the article did report that those close to Robinson observed he had become “more pro-gay and trans-rights oriented” and had begun dating a roommate who identified as transgender.
Charging documents cited in the report show Robinson sent a message to his roommate hours after the killing, stating, “I had enough of his hatred. Some hate can’t be negotiated out.” The report also described Robinson comforting his partner, who was “sobbing” the day former President Trump won, with Robinson “cradling” him.
Buried deep in the article, a friend who regularly attended Magic games with Robinson is quoted as saying Robinson “killed Charlie Kirk.”
Posobiec highlighted that both Robinson’s peers and his parents appear to believe he committed the crime, noting that his parents turned him in and were present in court last week.
“We know that his parents also believe this because they are the ones who turned him in. We also know that Tyler Robinson’s parents were in the courtroom last week when he was there smiling and grinning,” Posobiec said.
“At no point did the parents ever go to media and say ‘my son didn’t do it.’ If you thought your son was wrongfully accused of something, you might tell someone about that, right? But not Tyler Robinson’s parents,” he continued, noting that it is unfortunate how emotional Robinson’s parents were over their son’s actions.
“They’re trying so hard to divorce left-wing politics, transgenderism, the trans agenda, from the murder of Charlie Kirk,” Posobiec said. “They don’t want anyone to know that a violent leftist gay communist killed Charlie Kirk.”
