Manosphere influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate have been charged with rape in the United Kingdom, the Associated Press reports. The Crown Prosecution Service said an arrest warrant has been issued for the brothers last year, and that Romanian courts have issued an extradition order.
Andrew Tate faces charges that include rape, actual bodily harm, human trafficking, and controlling prostitution for gain. His brother faces charges related to one woman that include rape and human trafficking.
The two were arrested in Romania in late 2022 and indicted last year after they were accused of leading a criminal ring that lured women to Romania, where they were allegedly exploited. The brothers deny all allegations against them.
Earlier this year it was announced that the two were also under federal criminal investigation by the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York (SDNY), according to a report from the Daily Mail.
This came to light following a court document filed in Palm Beach County, where the Tates were suing a woman for defamation after she claimed they had trafficked her, the outlet reported. According to the Daily Mail, the woman’s attorney filed documents with the court, asking to keep details of the case confidential due to “the United States federal investigation and/or prosecution by the Department of Justice for the Southern District of New York.”
“Until the United States federal investigation and/or prosecution by the Department of Justice for the Southern District of New York of Andrew and Tristan Tate has concluded, the entire document the Defendants’ and Counterclaimant Jane Doe’s Emergency Motion to Stay Pursuant to 18 U.S.C. 1595(b)(1) Related to United States Federal Investigation of Andrew and Tristan Tate should be confidential and sealed,” the filing reportedly said.
