Human Events Daily host Jack Posobiec spoke with Utah Senator Mike Lee about his concerns regarding the United States' continued involvement in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

Known for his outspoken stance against prolonged foreign conflicts and excessive spending, Lee criticized Washington politicians for prioritizing foreign interests over the safety and security of our own country.

“Decision makers here in Washington, including people in both political parties in both houses of congress have made a decision to prefer another country half a world away to our own,” Lee argued.

Lee also highlighted the ongoing crisis at the southern border, emphasizing that while the U.S. faces an “invasion,” billions of dollars are being allocated to foreign nations.

“Here we are where we’ve decided to just go ahead and pass a bill that sends nearly a hundred billion dollars to other countries while the security of our own country languishes and our own borders remain unsecure,” he said.

Lee went on to caution against the risk of Ukraine becoming another "forever war" for the US and warned about the potential escalation of proxy conflicts becoming full-scare warfare.

"The Biden administration's goal of long-term entanglement with Ukraine is becoming abundantly and increasingly clear," he said. "It's also clear that this is a move to tie the hands of future presidents and of President Trump when he becomes the 47th President of the United States."

Posobiec echoed these concerns, questioning who truly benefits from the ongoing conflict and the aid provided by the US.

“Who’s really benefiting from this conflict? Because it’s not clear to me that it’s the Ukrainian people,” Posobiec asked.

“Those who benefit are American politicians who enjoy a momentary season of praise,” Lee responded.

“The biggest single winner would be the military industrial complex,” Lee continued. “They’re the winners. It’s not at all clear it’s going to make Ukranians any safer.”

The two went on to criticize the absence of a clear plan for achieving peace and questioned the effectiveness of the significant spending by the US.

“What I’m not hearing from anyone… is a plan for peace. A plan for how we translate the obscene amounts of money we’ve been sending… how that translates into the achievement of peace,” Lee commented.

“It’s nowhere to be heard because I think that’s not on their minds at all. This is about prolonging a war.”
