Tucker Carlson and Charlie Kirk Slam 'Terrified Little Child' Sam Harris

Christianity is in decline in the US. Reports show that Christianity is so much in decline, that within a few decades, America can expect that it will no longer be the dominant religion. Christians, according to a recent Pew study, "could make up less than half the U.S. population within a few decades." While other religions are coming in and increasing numbers, there is also the steady rise of atheism. The number of self-described atheists in the US has doubled since 2009.

Tucker Carlson and Charlie Kirk dug into the problems and failures of atheism on the Charlie Kirk Show, and took aim at prominent American atheist Sam Harris. "Sam Harris seems like a child to me, like a terrified little child ever heard. Sam Harris seems like one of the dumbest people I've ever listened to in my life," Carlson said.

According to a recent study, 84 percent of Earth's population identify with some kind of religion, and yet, as Kirk puts it, "we're ruled by a group of people that think 84 percent of the religious people on the planet are wrong."

"I must say, my tolerance for atheism has really dwindled to nothing at this point," Carlson says, acknowledging a major difference between atheists and "people who are agnostic or aren't really sure," whom he understands and tolerates.

"But the idea that there are people who are completely certain, as a matter of religious faith, that there is no God, I just find it hilarious and, like, so childish," he added. "I just can't take it seriously." Sam Harris is one of those people.

"I was talking to somebody today who's like, 'well Sam Harris is smart,'" Carlson said, jokingly asking himself afterwards, "We have evidence Sam Harris is smart?"

Carlson didn't hold back any punches in his opinion of the "Waking Up" podcast host, whose strident and relentless criticism of religion has placed him in theological history along with Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, and Daniel Dennett, as one of the "four horsemen" of New Atheism.

Kirk brought up Sam Harris' 2010 book "The Moral Landscape: How Science Can Determine Human Values," saying that in it, Harris "tries to say that you can come up with an objective moral construct via atheism and fails miserably."

"But the intelligencia that's running our planet right now, they are they are practicing parishioners in the church of Sam Harris," he states metaphorically.

Comparing Harris' atheism to Unitarianism, Tucker describes it as like "a sad doomed little church."

"It's not even interesting," he adds. "I mean, there are all kinds of religions that I don't believe in that I think are kind of compelling and speak to something that's true."

"But for other people to look on at Sam Harris, who was truly an absurd figure and be like, 'he's really smart?' God, we're not measuring this correctly."
