The US has been informed that major retaliatory missile strikes against Israel by Iran or its allies are imminent, per a Bloomberg report.

The sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the assault could happen in the next few days and involve high-precision missiles.

Wednesday morning, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei reiterated an earlier promise to retaliate against Israel for its hit on the Syrian capital of Damascus last week which left several Iranian military officials dead. Israel has not yet claimed responsibility for the attack, although it has told allies it has been preparing for a counter-attack from Iran.

According to the sources, the US and its Western allies were informed that, most likely, Israeli government and military facilities would be targeted and not civilian areas.

Foreign diplomatic missions, including the US and the Biden administration, have reportedly been preparing to assist Israel with evacuations and emergency supplies.

"We also want to address the Iranian threat to launch a significant - they’re threatening to launch a significant attack in Israel," Joe Biden said Wednesday. "As I told Prime Minister Netanyahu, our commitment to Israel security against these threats from Iran and its proxies is iron clad. Let me say it again, iron clad - all we can to protect Israel’s security."

Israeli, US, and Western intelligence are in agreement that the attack may not come from the north, where Iran's main proxy Hezbollah is located in Lebanon, according to the sources.
