DAVE STANN: Sam Bankman-Fried's dropped charges spotlight Democrat corruption

Everyone’s favorite FTX fraudster Sam Bankman-Fried is back in the limelight, this time with the wholy unsurprising news that federal prosecutors have decided NOT to prosecute him on his remaining charges of money laundering $100 million dollars of customer funds into the campaign coffers of notable US politicians, as well as bribing Chinese officials. While SBFraud has now been duly convicted of the original charges against him, it looks like he’s getting off scot-free on the rest (conveniently preventing further discovery into the political recipients of those funds).

From the indictment of the charges, Federal prosecutors have suddenly dismissed against him: “An internal Alameda [FTX] spreadsheet noted over $100 million in political contributions, even though FEC records reflect no political contributions by Alameda for the 2022 midterm elections to candidates or PACs.” Sure would be nice to know all the dark money political donations went, not that the Department of Justice seems to share this concern, especially considering SBFraud was one of the largest donors to the DNC this past cycle.

The only thing less surprising than the Department of Justice running cover for the current administration is the completely backwards reasoning prosecutors are using to justify their dereliction of duty. Claiming that “the strong public interest in a prompt resolution of this matter” somehow overrides the fact that one of the largest campaign finance crimes in history is now going to be completely swept under the rug, with no repercussions or accountabily whatsoever for the recipients of these money laundered funds, means that Washington, DC is once again doing what it does best: protecting its own, public be damned.

As if anticipating the obvious backlash to such a nonsense declaration, the prosecutors not only dropped this weak excuse for “justice” late on a Friday night before a 3-day holiday weekend (Happy New Year, everyone! Expect more of the same in 2024!), but have gone on to bolster their claims with faux legal mumbo jumbo about the Bahamas extradition process.

Apparently, while the Bahamas originally signed off on extraditing SBFraud to the US to face the initial charges, they have “not agreed” to him facing the foreign influence and campaign finance charges (which, of course, has nothing at all to do with the Bahamas $3.5 billion seizure of remaining FTX funds days after the scandal came to light, or the mystery “hack” of $477 million more). And despite US prosecutors sending a “request” to the Bahamas for a “waiver” to this rule, they have not replied to this request and “to date... the [US] Government does not have a timeline for when the Bahamas may respond to its request.”

Have you ever heard such legal hand wringing in your life? Apparently, there’s just NOTHING the US Department of Justice can do about it because the Bahamas isn’t returning our phone calls! Oh well, case closed, what are you gonna do? Besides, the “strong public interest” here only lies in convicting SBFraud for stealing the original funds, the public doesn’t care if those who rule over us (or their handlers in Beijing) are the recipients of those stolen funds. Why would that be of public interest? Stop being such a conspiracy theorist, you pleb!

Unfortunately, 2024 is starting off the same way that 2023 ended, with the the judicial branch of the US government actively playing their part in the corruption of our current political system. What good is “separation of powers” into 3 branches of government (supposedly to ensure “checks and balances”) when these 3 branches are clearly coordinating their corrupt actions and making a mockery of Constitutional integrity? SBFraud may be guilty of the original charges against him, but as usual, the DOJ has ensured the trail stops cold with him, while the party continues on in DC.
