AUSTIN PETERSEN: 'Forever war' in Ukraine could cost Joe Biden the White House in 2024

The Washington Post/ABC News poll showing Biden losing to Trump by ten points sparked a great wailing and gnashing of teeth amongst professional leftists this weekend. The Young Turks’ Cenk Uygur penned a Newsweek op-ed calling directly for Biden to step down, citing his low approval ratings and the fact that his only accomplishments are bills that the American people don’t know or don’t care about.

Couple that with the threat of a potential Robert F. Kennedy Jr. third-party campaign (as a Libertarian no less), and you have a recipe for a Democratic disaster if Biden ends up being the nominee again and loses to Trump. It could be that the Biden camp may even be silently acknowledging this with the fact that they’ve hand picked California Governor Gavin Newsom to act as their emissary at the GOP Fox Business debate this Wednesday. But considering that the debate is something of a sideshow without the presence of Donald Trump, it would be easy to play down Newsom’s role in the event.

No, it would seem as if the issue that might be the heaviest millstone around the president’s neck is not just his lack of sincere accomplishments for the American middle class, but the ridiculous amount of taxpayer money going to Ukraine. Whether it’s the obnoxious transgender spokesperson gaslighting the world with the nation’s chances of beating Russia Baghdad Bob style, or the disconcerting news that US citizens like Human Events’ own Jack Posobiec were put on a Ukrainian hit list, the WaPo/ABC poll appears to show that more Americans are getting frustrated with Washington spending their rapidly depreciating dollars on defending borders overseas, while our own are wide open. Immigration was another issue that Americans were dinging Biden on in that poll as well.

60 Minutes released an investigation into taxpayer dollars being sent to Ukraine that happened to coincide with the WaPo/ABC poll. As it turns out, some of American taxpayer dollars aren’t going directly to the war effort at all. Much of it is being shuffled off to Ukrainian small businesses, farmers, and some 57,000 first responders. Despite reassurances from Sens Lindsey Graham and Elizabeth Warren that the money is being properly accounted for, more Americans are agreeing with Rand Paul that we deserve real, quantifiable accountability for their hard earned dollars.

Cenk Uygur’s piece in Newsweek says MAGA should be doing everything they can to keep Joe Biden in the race. Even a CNN poll he cited showed that a majority of Americans think Biden should end his campaign for reelection. For once, I agree with Cenk. It’s clear that Biden’s the weakest candidate in the field right now, not only due to poll numbers but also physically and mentally. Elected members of Biden’s own party right now are in open mutiny against him, with Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN) announcing he might challenge him over concerns owing to his failing mental health. There’s blood in the water, and the sharks are circling. The only question now is which Democrat is going to have the courage to take the first bite.

I’ve been thinking about the Roman Empire more often than just once a day for some reason, as well as brushing up on my Shakespeare. If Biden continues to show his weakness through these kinds of polls and public gaffes, more Democrats will be giving him a lesson in the classics, specifically Act 3 Scene 1 of Julius Caesar:

“Et Tu, Brute?”
