A young, South Korean woman who was obsessed with crime stories has reportedly confessed to killing and dismembering another woman. She apparently said that she did it “out of curiosity,” to learn what it was like.

The authorities in Busan, a city in the south of the country, noted that the woman was arrested on Wednesday and said that the suspect was heavily enmeshed in crime stories, per the Daily Mail. Jung Yoo-jung, 23, confessed to the murder and was indicted for the crime on Friday.

Jung’s initial statement suggested that she had committed the horrific crime after an argument with the unnamed victim, but the authorities quickly spotted contradictions in her story. After Jun’s family insisted that she tell the truth, she confessed that she just wanted to know what it was like to kill someone. Investigators are reportedly attempting to determine if Jung may be a psychopath, according to The Chosunilbo.

After the evidence-gathering process, the authorities are under the impression that the murder and dismemberment were carefully planned out ahead of time. The authorities also claimed that Jung’s phone records suggest that she had been looking for internet tips on how to hide a dead body for three months leading up to the attack.

The victim in the gruesome incident was apparently discovered by Jung, who used an app for private tutors to connect with parents. Jung apparently posed as a mother of a young girl who wished to learn English. The tutor then came to Jung’s house two days later. When the private tutor showed up, Jung had donned a school uniform, pretending to be the fake daughter. After the tutor entered the house, Jung stabbed her with a knife.

According to South Korean police, their belief that Jung had planned out the event is further backed by her reported purchases of large bin bags and bottles of bleach at a nearby supermarket.
