A New Jersey public high school librarian has filed a lawsuit against three parents after they spoke out against sexually explicit books made available to children in school libraries.
In October of 2021, Attorney General Merrick Garland wrote a directive letter, at the behest of the National Education Association, to the FBI indicating that the agency should classify parents who speak against indoctrination at school board meetings as domestic terrorists. This move gave strength and power to progressives in education. So much so, that a school librarian has the impudence to sue three parents in New Jersey for questioning inappropriate books in the school library.
Christina Balestriere, Kristen Cobo, and Tom Seretis were uneasy about a book titled “Gender Queer: A Memoir” by Maia Kobabe in their local school’s library and mentioned it at the Roxbury school district’s board meeting. After doing this, the high school librarian Roxana Russo Caivano and her husband, who is an attorney, filed a lawsuit accusing the parents of defamation.
“Gender Queer: A Memoir” has been called the “most banned” in the country by the New York Times, and the American Library Association, as it explicitly discusses sexuality and gender ideology. This book contains depictions of masturbation while pretending to be male and imagining a penis that’s receiving oral sex. It includes images of male homosexual behavior, in which the young female character wants to participate.
Caivano asserts that she is suffering from “severe and permanent emotional injuries” as a result of criticism from the parents. It seems that neither Caivano, nor the school care about the emotional damage that such inappropriate materials could have on children. There is no mention of the students in her lawsuit.
“[The parents] have recently been hit with a lawsuit by their public high school librarian after exercising their first amendment right to speak in a public forum regarding sexually explicit books in their school district. It appears that this is an attempt to cause these parents financial distress through a frivolous lawsuit.”

As parents, we must loudly rebel against the sexualization of our children. The days of passive parenting are over. We must read what they read. We must study their assignments. We must monitor their texts and technology. We are under attack from the vicious and morally bankrupt leftist education system. Parents cannot be erased, but we must continue to speak up and fight back.
