Dutch police arrest drunk driver with fake 'Boris Johnson' license

The Dutch authorities have reportedly arrested a man involved in a drunk driving incident over the weekend. The man apparently presented a driver’s license with Boris Johnson’s name and photo, per the Daily Mail.

The fraudulent driver’s license also included the Ukrainian flag on it, along with Johnson’s correct birth date, according to the report. The license was apparently “issued” on July 24, 2019, the same day that Johnson took up his post at 10 Downing Street as the Prime Minister of the UK. The fake document is good until the year 3000.

Thijs Damstra, the police spokesman, said that officers arrived on the scene to investigate an incident that occurred around midnight on Sunday. A car had reportedly crashed into a pole close to Emma Bridge, in the city of Groningen. The car was subsequently left behind, and the police later reported that the driver was standing on the bridge.

Damstra said: “The person could not identify himself and refused to undertake a breathalyser test.”

When the police searched the 35-year-old’s car, Damstra said, “Inside, police found a fake drivers license belonging to Boris Johnson.”

“Unfortunately for this person, we did not fall for his forgery.”

There is no confirmation on where the fake license could have come from, but the Daily Mail reported that former Russia correspondent Kysia Hekster, suggested that the fraudulent document could easily be acquired in tourist shops in Ukraine. Hekster said on Twitter that she owns these items from “Merkel and Zelensky, among others.”

Damstra concluded: “As far as I'm aware, the real Mr Boris Johnson was not in the Netherlands at the time.”
