A state appellate court ruled Thursday that Trump must testify under oath as part of the New York Attorney General’s Office investigation into his business practices

The ruling by a panel of four judges upheld a decision by New York Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron, who said in February that Trump and two of his children must comply with subpoenas calling for them to sit for depositions, Fox News reports

Additionally, as previously reported by Human Events News, Engoron recently ordered that Trump was in contempt to turn over documents.

Trump had previously argued that they could not be forced to testify because their responses could be used against them in a criminal probe, which violated his constitutional rights.

"The existence of a criminal investigation does not preclude civil discovery of related facts, at which a party may exercise the privilege against self-incrimination," Thursday's ruling from the Supreme Court's Appellate Division said.

Trump has the opportunity to appeal the decision to the New York Court of Appeals.
