In a significant turn of events, a judge ruled Wednesday that Britney Spears may appoint her own lawyer.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny ruled that Matthew Rosengart can represent Spears.

As previously reported by Human Events News, just three weeks ago, Britney Spears described the trauma she has endured under her conservatorship for the first time in Court.

“I’ve been in denial. I’ve been in shock. I am traumatized,” Spears said in a 23-minute speech that was played to the courtroom. “I just want my life back.”

In the time since her court address, Spears has garnered nationwide support, as the #FreeBritney movement has taken over social media.

The movement has even gone political, with lawmakers from both sides of the aisle showing their support for the pop star.
