> We must get back to basics if we are going to rebuild our generational coalition.

Our party and our movement are at a crossroads. But the fight is not over.

The coalition that won in 2024 has been split into factions and in the fighting between those factions, our enemies have seized the initiative and used our infighting to outflank us on the direct needs of the American people. And as such, they were able to send GOP candidates and incumbents alike to the wayside.

We must get back to basics if we are going to rebuild our generational coalition. We must put the needs, interests, and foremost concerns of the American people first, not only in our words but in our actions.

Our great President Teddy Roosevelt once said "Great thoughts speak only to the thoughtful mind, but great actions speak to all mankind."

We cannot only speak about putting the American people first, we must act upon it. And when we do not, the people who asked us for change in 2024 but did not feel they received it will send us a message. And they have.

Charlie Kirk invited young voters to be part of the movement, giving voice to what mattered to them. He worked hard to win them and gave us a roadmap of how to keep them engaged by listening to their concerns about jobs, family, housing, and yes, even about [burritos](https://thepostmillennial.com/jd-vance-doubles-down-on-mocking-neocon-elitist-who-says-americans-should-just-accept-20-burritos).

These young Americans have been [belittled](https://humanevents.com/opinion/auron-macintyre-to-jack-posobiec-if-you-spend-your-entire-campaign-telling-people-their-issues) by leaders, called lazy, told they aren't working hard enough, but none of it is true. Listen to these young voters. The country belongs to them, too. We have to give them a path.

- Engage young voters in their neighborhoods, towns, villages, cities. No more billions of dollars for social programs in far-flung nations, open opportunities for jobs, entrepreneurship, and growth here at home.
- Let them see that their hard work will not be wasted waging wars in far-off lands. Hard work should benefit Americans first.
- Keep immigration curbed and the borders closed so American kids, not foreigners, can be first in line for jobs.
- Same for education: American universities should serve American students first before opening the doors to foreign students.
- Prioritize housing for American homeowners, not corporate interests. American young people don't want to live in a nation of renters, they want a stake in this land.
- Make fighting crime a priority so young people can envision raising families in safe neighborhoods. Remove criminals from our streets and keep them off those streets. Strip activist judges of their ability to allow revolving-door prisons and simply lock up the bad guys for good.
- Bring back energy independence and lower costs for fuel. We have enough that we don't need to depend on foreign imports, let's get back to that.

The roadmap for the future is understanding these policies, which were the original MAGA America First policies: cost of living, crime at home, immigration, bringing our focus from overseas to our shores.

The values, goals, and principles upon which we stand are not wrong. After a defeat like this, what remains is to firm up our resolve and brush the dirt off our shoulders. When we next engage voters, after two years of leftist lawfare and rights-crushing spending programs, our message needs to be communicated with strength and determination to follow through, for the good of the nation and her people.

We will never stop fighting. America is worth it. Our kids are worth it.
