# Elon Musk says stats show 'Great Replacement' has already happened in Europe as native populations dwindle, replaced by migrants

The idea of the "Great Replacement" is that NGOs and governments are intentionally replacing native citizens with migrants from foreign nations.

The figures Musk referred to, shared by the X account End Wokeness, compared the share of residents with native national backgrounds in 1995 to 2025. According to the figures, the proportions of residents with native backgrounds in several European capitals have faced huge drop-offs. Amsterdam’s share of residents with native Dutch backgrounds reportedly fell from 98 percent to 40 percent.

The figures have circulated on X, with users debating their overall accuracy. However, much of the conversation centered on the broader demographic changes they were intended to highlight. Musk weighed in on the discussion by reposting the figures and writing, “Objectively, the ‘Great Replacement’ has already occurred.”

The term “Great Replacement” refers to the idea that native white European populations are being displaced by immigration, with some proponents arguing that these changes are deliberate and politically motivated. While critics have claimed this to be a “conspiracy theory,” demographic changes resulting from immigration have become a statistical reality.

Musk has repeatedly commented on demographic trends in Western countries, particularly declining birth rates. In January, he warned about the long-term consequences of low fertility rates among native citizens in the west, where birth rates continue to drop.

“Even without ‘replacement’, birth rates are super low almost everywhere on Earth. Unless that changes, entire cultures and countries will disappear,” Musk posted.
