Biden is seeking to raise federal employee pay by 4.6 percent, while private sector pay is estimated to increase just 3.4 percent this year.
The federal pay raise is reportedly part of Biden’s upcoming FY2023 budget, which the White House plans to send to Congress after his State of the Union address on March 1, Just the News reports.
In Fiscal Year 2021, Biden requested a 2.7 percent federal employee pay raise. In Fiscal Year 2022, pay raises for federal employees range from 2.42 percent to 3.21 percent.
The 4.6 percent request is the “largest in decades,” according to Federal News Radio.
In 2022, U.S. employers are expected to raise worker pay 3.4 percent, while employees received a raise of 2.8 percent in 2021.
