Trump Predicts He’d Beat Ron DeSantis in 2024

President Donald Trump said in an interview that he doesn’t think Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will run against him in 2024, and if he did, he wouldn’t stand a chance.

“If I faced him, I’d beat him like I would beat everyone else,” Trump said in the interview with Yahoo Finance Live, set to air Monday. “I think that most people would drop out, I think he would drop out.”

Trump has long been teasing a run in 2024, and recent polls show him leading with DeSantis in second place, the Daily Caller reports. A Conservative Political Action Conference poll in July showed Trump with 80 percent support and DeSantis with 21 percent.

Without Trump as a consideration, however, DeSantis came in at 68 percent support.

DeSantis has said many times he isn’t thinking about running for president, even saying on Fox News that he is “not considering anything beyond doing [his] job.” The sweetheart governor said he is running for re-election in 2022 and faces several democratic challengers.
