ATW: Intruder shot after breaking into Lincoln Park home

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – A 30-year-old Lincoln Park woman awoke to find a burglar in her home early Wednesday and shot her in the leg when she refused to leave, police said.

The shooting in the 500 block of Drew View Lane was reported at 2:38 a.m., according to San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros.

Detectives say the woman was asleep in her home, when the burglar alarm went off, waking her and her roommate. She then discovered a 34-year-old woman inside her home trying to shut off the alarm. After the victim told the suspect to get out of her house, the woman became verbally abusive and threatened the homeowner. The woman armed herself with a handgun from the master bedroom and tried to force the suspect to leave.
