Judicial Watch says it has confirmation from “high-level federal law enforcement, intelligence, and other sources” that a very specific and imminent terrorist threat exists on the southern border of the United States, originating from the Mexican city of Ciudad Juarez:
Specifically, Judicial Watch sources reveal that the militant group Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) is confirmed to now be operating in Juarez, a famously crime-infested narcotics hotbed situated across from El Paso, Texas. Violent crimes are so rampant in Juarez that the U.S. State Department has issued a number of travel warnings for anyone planning to go there. The last one was issued just a few days ago.
Intelligence officials have picked up radio talk and chatter indicating that the terrorist groups are going to ‚??carry out an attack on the border,‚?Ě according to one JW source.¬† ‚??It‚??s coming very soon,‚?Ě according to this high-level source, who clearly identified the groups planning the plots as ‚??ISIS and Al Qaeda.‚?Ě An attack is so imminent that the commanding general at Ft. Bliss, the U.S. Army post in El Paso, is being briefed, another source confirms. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) did not respond to multiple inquiries from Judicial Watch, both telephonic and in writing, about this information.
The disturbing inside intelligence comes on the heels of news reports revealing that U.S. intelligence has picked up increased chatter among Islamist terror networks approaching the 13th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
To be sure, “increased chatter” is a perennial feature of the September 11 season, Ciudad Juarez is a dicey neighborhood on the best days, and while the Administration aggressively downplays the security threat on the border (to the point of describing it as completely secure) just about everyone who actually¬†works there¬†has expressed an uneasy feeling that trouble was brewing. ¬†As I’ve said before, at this point ISIS could march a battalion across the southern border without much fear of being detected or intercepted, especially if they use their abundant financial resources to hire the accomplished professionals who work in the “coyote” smuggling industry.
But this report from Judicial Watch sounds like a good deal more than generalized misgivings. ¬†A low-tech bombing attack on the border crossing, during a busy hour, could inflict a lot of carnage on both Mexican and American citizens. ¬†Or maybe Ft. Bliss itself is the potential target, or a softer target in El Paso. ¬†It’s always tricky to guess what response terrorists are anticipating, but one would think the savvier sort of monster would understand that a big cross-border attack might actually wake up the somnolent American Ruling Class, or at least shame them into doing something about border security, so it’s not an opportunity to be burned off¬†lightly.
Breitbart News has posted a leaked document from the Texas Department of Public Safety warning about increased interest from ISIS in the southern border. ¬†This document asserts that the recent stunt pulled off by James O’Keefe of Project Veritas, in which he paraded back and forth across the border dressed as Osama bin Laden without any notice taken by the authorities, heightened the interest of actual terrorists in exploiting our security vulnerability. ¬†(Which is not O’Keefe’s fault, since anyone not working or shilling for the Obama Administration already knew about that vulnerability. ¬†ISIS doesn’t have an immigration agenda that relies on pretending the border is much safer than it actually is, so¬†of course¬†they got the message before anyone in the Administration.)
Also from Breitbart News:
In addition to the report, U.S. Border Patrol Agents confirmed that the U.S. Border Patrol agency was indeed taking the threat seriously. A Border Patrol agent in the Laredo Sector told Breitbart Texas that they had credible information that ISIS was attempting to find individuals and groups in Nuevo-Laredo Mexico to assist in gaining entry into the united states.
A Border Patrol agent in the El Paso Sector would only tell Breitbart Texas that a warning was issued to agents pertaining to ISIS.
The Border Patrol agent spoke to Breitbart Texas on the condition of anonymity.
The report comes on the same day as the United Kingdom raised its terror alert status, but so far there has been no corresponding general advisory from the U.S. government.
