Bongino: There is no gun control, there is only ‘people-control’

Former Secret Service agent Daniel Bongino, a once and future Republican candidate for U.S. Senate from Maryland, spoke at the Jan. 19 “Gun Appreciation Day” rally in Annapolis.

“Ladies and gentlemen, there is no such thing as gun control,” said Bongino, who lost the 2012 race for the Maryland senate seat in a three-way race between incumbent Sen. Benjamin L. Cardin (D.-Md.) and an independent candidate supported by the state GOP establishiment Sohrab Sobhani.

“There is only people-control,” he said.

“I served 16 years with a badge on my chest, which served as a target for some,” he said. “I don’t remember ever having the conversation during my years in the Secret Service: ‘hey, listen, we’re taking the president to Baltimore or Chicago, so let’s just disarm because they have really strict gun control laws.'”
