There is a good reason that Jon Huntsman never lived up to advance reviews as a presidential candidate and fared so poorly in the nomination fight.
When the former Utah governor announced last week that he was not attending the Republican National Convention, Huntsman gave quite a different reason from Linda McMahon, George Allen, and other no-shows (See Brief on page 5): ‚??I will not be attending this year‚??s convention, nor any Republican convention in the future, until the party focuses on a bigger, bolder, more confident future for the United States‚??a future based on problem solving, inclusiveness, and a willingness to address the trust deficit, which is every bit as corrosive as our fiscal and economic deficits,‚?Ě Barack Obama‚??s onetime ambassador to China told the Salt Lake City Tribune.
Following his third-place showing in the New Hampshire primary, Huntsman exited the race and gave Mitt Romney the two delegates he had won.
